Data Acquisition at Diamond is now performed on almost all beamlines using the Generic Data Acquisition (GDA) system. This provides a common Python syntax scripting environment with Graphics User Interface and Object customisations specific for the science performed at the beamlines concerned.
Significant and continuous effort is being expended on ensuring that different beamlines in related scientific areas, such as spectroscopy, provide as consistent and coherent interfaces as possible.
The use of Eclipse RCP has greatly accelerated the process of sharing components between the Scientific Software (DAWN) and the GDA, thus minimising development effort while enhancing commonality.
Diamond Light Source is the UK's national synchrotron science facility, located at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.
